About Faculty of Chemistry

TUEsday - 21/02/2012 18:14
The Faculty of Chemistry was established in 1954. The Faculty of Chemistry is among the best faculties in the country, offering students general and in-depth knowledge in theory and practical skills in the fields of organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry. Students are required to achieve knowledge in theory and practice in chemistry, research methodology and logical thinking procedure. Research is carried out in faculty labs and in conjunction with other institutions. Shared research interests are cultivated by collaborations, talks, seminars, scientific conferences and interdepartmental research units.
At present, The Faculty of Chemistry has four departments: Organic Chemistry, Inorganic & Applied Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry; and three research labs: Computational Research Lab., Natural Products & Medicinal Chemistry Research Lab.,  Applied Physical Chemistry Lab.
The academic staff members are Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, Teaching Assistants, and many visiting professors and lecturers from other universities, research institutes, and industry in Vietnam or abroad. The total number of academic and non-academic staff is about 80 members (excluding those currently studying abroad). Each year about 200 students graduate with a BSc. after a four-year program and about 80 graduates receive a MSc. degree. Students graduating from the Faculty of Chemistry are regularly placed in academic positions at first-grade institutions and universities, or specialized positions in leading chemical companies and factories.

The Faculty of Chemistry has four departments and two research labs.
The Faculty of Chemistry currently has 71 academic staff members comprising 09 Professors and associate professors, 27 Ph.D, 17 MSc. and 15 BSc. holders. In which, all lecturers and senior lecturers have at least Master degrees. All of them have been trained at least one course on teaching methodology. At present, many lecturers continue seeking for higher education abroad in developed countries. Each department is in charge of managing the lecturers and courses of that department. The Scientific Board is in charge of advising the Dean in teaching and scientific research activities. Faculty offices are responsible for administrative work for the Faculty.
